Welcome
Home

In Ogliastra on the east coast of Sardinia, there is a magical place to stay in relaxation and total privacy; here you will find Casa Mirto and Casa Corbezzolo.

We have opened our house up to friends, we have created a welcoming and exciting environment in which to host those who wish to discover the beauty of this land of a thousand facets.

In Lanusei, in the heart of Ogliastra, immersed in a beautiful green floral garden, full of cherry, lemon, fig and luxuriant broom trees, you can find Casa Mirto and Casa Corbezzolo, two intimate locations, created to welcome our friends from Italy and overseas who, like us, love the fantastic land of Ogliastra.

As you take the dirt road, which climbs steeply from the town towards the woods, you already enter the magic atmosphere that these places offer.
And here, at the end of the road, immediately after the chestnut and olive trees, you can see Casa Mirto and Casa Corbezzolo, with all their spectacular views towards the coast.

This is the spectacle that can be enjoyed from the windows.

Where are we

We are in Lanusei about 20 km from the sea at an altitude of 595 meters above sea level which guarantees an extraordinary climate even on the hottest days (and nights). The house that holds Casa Mirto and Casa Corbezzolo is located within a private property guaranteeing privacy and tranquility.
The elevated position of the apartments offers remarkable views, as well as a more agreeable climate compared to the coast. The evenings are in fact pleasantly cooler in summer, without the humidity typical of sea areas and without mosquitoes.
It is wonderful to come home after a day at the beach and not be afflicted by the heat but to relax in a dream location!
What’s more, Lanusei is in a perfect strategic position for excursions into the hinterland, in the mountains on the Gennargentu, to the nearby lake of Villanova Strisaili or in the characteristic villages rich in history and culture, because Sardinia is not only sea, but much more and we will help you discover it.

Lanusei

Lanusei is a town of 5,271 inhabitants in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia which is located in a strategic position combining sea and mountains.
The municipality is the seat of the local law court, the local health authority (ASL nº 4 of Lanusei) and its hospital. It is also the seat of the bishop from the diocese of the same name.

Not just sea

Ogliastra is a magical land which changes appearance and soul according to the seasons. In every period of the year it offers different colors, views and scents. Very often, people who return to Ogliastra in autumn, after having visited it perhaps only in summer, are very surprised by the diversity of the area and talk of sensations and suggestions that seem to belong to another place, another Sardinia. That’s so right, every time it’s a different experience, a different land, a different holiday.

Sea

The beaches in Ogliastra are very varied, every day you can choose which type of paradise to relax in – sand, pebbles, gravel or rock.
And in all of them the crystal clarity of the waters will leave you breathless.

The coves of the Gulf of Orosei, Cala Goloritzè, Cala Mariolu and Cala Sisine to name but a few, are true crystalline pearls close to a rocky ridge that delimits them to the west. Along the coast you can also admire the beaches of Cala Gonone and further south those of Tortolì, with the small and delightful bay of Porto Frailis or Lido di Orrì, and the Torre di Bari beach in Barisardo and Marina di Cardedu, Tertenia and Gairo.

According to Legambiente and the Italian Touring Club, the coast of Baunei represents the best tourist area in Italy, and won the title of 5 sails, a prestigious award for sustainable land management, landscape protection, and services offered in full respect of the environment.

Also worthy of note are the contemporary art itineraries in Tortolì with the open-air museum Su Logu and S’Iscultura in Tertenia with the works of sculptor Albino Manca but above all in Ulàssai, a very lively town from the artistic point of view with the Stazione dell’Arte museum dedicated to the late Ogliastra artist Maria Lai.

Excursions

The interior roads open up to the National Park of the Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu and further south to the Parco dei Tacchi d’Ogliastra, with the characteristic hills dominated by a mountainous base. Nearby you can visit the natural monument of Perda Liana, the remains of Gairo Vecchio, a ghost town that was destroyed in the flood of 1951, the ancient rural church of San Salvatore in Ussassài, the Scala di San Giorgio and the Serbissi nuraghe in Osini. and the imposing Su Marmuri cave in Ulàssai. Further north, between Orgosolo and Urzulei is the Gorropu Gorge, a huge canyon derived from the erosive action of the Rio Flumineddu river and reachable via a hiking trail. In the low season, nature trails can be organized, including caves and archaeological sites or activities such as rock climbing, biking and trekking. In particular, we recommend the Selvaggio Blu, one of the most challenging and fascinating trekking routes in Italy. Although the Ogliastra area is not connected by the regional railway network, the tourist line of the narrow-gauge railway is still active with the journeys of the Trenino Verde (little green train) between Arbatax and Mandas, which allows you to savor the landscapes of the interior.

And many more tasty dishes to be discovered!

Ogliastra, rich in vineyards and olive groves, is the land of the centenarians where food, air and nature have produced a particular DNA envied the world over.

Climate

It is said that the best time to visit is summer, a period in which the high temperatures allow you to enjoy the wonderful sea that bathes its coasts. This is partly true, but we are of the opinion that any season is suitable for visiting.

Spring and autumn allow you to spend a holiday when the weather is more pleasant and the low season allows you to find fewer crowds and more advantageous prices. The spectacle that the visitor can enjoy even in the low season is not at all disappointing, indeed it can be an extra opportunity to go to places that in summer, due to the heat, are difficult to visit.

And winter? In winter it is even more magical. The tombs of the giants, Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, woods, museums, traditions, design a winter itinerary to be discovered.
